GORILLA GROUPS IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has 19 gorilla families open to the public for tracking and visit.

Area Buhoma

  1. Mubare group
    Family members: 5 (1 silverback, 4 adult females)
  2. Habinyanja group
    Family members: 15 (1 silverback, 4 black back, 3 adult females, 1 sub-adult, 4 juveniles, 2 infants)
  3. Rushegura group
    Family members: 15 (1 silverback, 3 black backs, 6 adult females, 1 sub-adult, 4 infants)
  4. Katwe group
    Family members: 8 (1 silverback, 1 black back, 2 adult females, 2 sub-adults, 2 infants)

 

Area Ruhija

  1. Nkuringo group
    Family members: 14 (2 silverbacks, 3 black back, 7 adult females, 1 juvenile, 1 infant)
  2. Bushaho group
    Family members: 11 (1 silverback, 1 black back, 4 adult females, 2 sub-adults, 3 infants)
  3. Christmas group
    Family members: 6 (1 silverback, 2 adult females, 1 juvenile, 2 infants)
  4. Kyaguliro group
    Family members: 8 (1 silverback, 1 black back, 1 adult female, 4 sub-adults, 1 infant)

    Family members: 11 (2 silverbacks, 1 black back, 4 adult females, 1 sub-adult, 1 juvenile, 2 infants)
  2. Oruzogo group
    Family members: 17 (3 silverbacks, 1 black back, 6 adult females, 3 sub-adults, 2 juveniles, 2 infants)
  3. Mukiza group
    Family members: 13 (1 silverback, 6 adult females, 2 sub-adults, 1 Juvenile, 3 infants)

    Family members: 10 (3 silverbacks, 3 adult females, 1 sub-adult, 3 infants)
  5. Nshongi group
    Family members: 7 (1 silverback, 3 adult females, 1 sub-adult, 2 infants)
  6. Mucunguzi group
    Family members: 8 (1 silverback, 5 adult females, 2 infants)
  7. Bikingi group
    Family members: 10 ( 1 silverback, 1 black back, 4 adult females,2 juveniles, 2 infants)
